Long Time, No Update

Sorry its been so long since I have updated, not much has happened to update about. Except oh, yea I MET DUFF GOLDMAN!!!

So for people who do not know who Duff is, he owns a bakery in Baltimore, called Charm City Cakes. He now has a show on Food Network called Ace of Cakes. They make outrageous cakes, such as: A life size R2-D2 cake, life size motorcycle cake, just the most outrageous cakes you could think of. The first episode I saw was three years ago and he was making a cake for Jay Leno, after seeing that episode it made me want to go into culinary arts...so its pretty much thanks to Duff I am in my profession.

Anyway so about two weeks ago I found out that Duff was coming to a Schulers in downtown Grand Rapids for a book signing. So I went down and got my wrist band so I could meet my idol. I waited about two and half hours all together in line to meet him but it was the most AMAZING thing that has and probably will ever happen to me! He's just awesome, I wish the entire bakery was there but hey I can only ask for so much, lol.

Other than the book signing school is going well, I'm getting use to when to leave to park so its not so horrendous. Classes are going good, not really to much to say. Most of them are basic classes so they are quit boring. Anywhoo, I'll update again soon!

First Day Of School

So yesterday was my first day of COLLEGE! It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. To me it mostly just felt like high school with a little more responsibility. On Mondays I have English, Overview of American Government and Intermediate swimming.

English was cool, my teacher seems really nice. I hope she is anyway. The class is more about writing essays from your point of view, about things that happened to you and trying to convey that in a well written essay. So yea, I think that I will like the class. I believe I did offend on of the girls in the class. We were put into groups of four or five and had to learn everyone's name within the group, three things we have in common, each persons passion and then together come up with a name for the group. Well as we were trying to figure out what we all had in common I said "How many people here hate the popularity of Twilight?" the other chick in the group apparently is a HUGE twilight fan. She LOVES Edward. Oops, Oh well.

The Overview of America Government was pure awesome and I just can't get enough of the class. Yes that was pure sarcasm. I think it will be interesting but, its government. I never liked that subject.

I'm not sure yet if I will like my swim instructor. For one, I am in beginner/intermediate swim class. You are reading a blog of a person who has not only been a competitive swimmer for thirteen years, but grew up on deck and was swimming as soon as she could walk. My swim instructor acts kinda like he knows everything, and even if you are a person that knows everything, I don't care. It just gets annoying and is a very big turn off if I might add.

But I did not get lost for everyone's information. All in all it was a good first day. Tuesdays I have my Intro to Business. Wednesday is my English and Government again. Then Thursday I have my Computer class and my Business class again. Then I have a three day weekend! Yes I am awesome like that, lol. Talk to you all in a few days!

New House, New Town- Here I Go

This blog is for me to have a way to document my start of college, in this new town of Grand Rapids and at Grand Rapids Community College. I am going in for culinary arts and can't wait to get into the kitchen!

So I am here at the new place. I just moved in and its a little weird being here alone. My three other roommates are off, two are in New York and the other is attending a wedding somewhere. I guess its good because it gave me some time to move in and get settled. I am un-packed, I got my books, got some food. I am so afraid I am going to get lost here in the big city. I know by the end of all this I will know the city like the back of my hand, but for now my father has let me borrow his Garmin.

So far I am liking being in a bigger city. Well besides the whole can get lost and such but its good for me. I grew up in the town of Alma, its tiny. I mean here I walk into a store and have no idea who the people are while if I was in Alma you would know everyone, maybe not by name but you would definitely recognize them. I am hoping when some of my roommates come back I can venture with them. All three of them have been here in Grand Rapids for a while so they know the cool places and different shortcuts.

I think that's all for this first post. I probably will update one or two times a week, or more depending on how board I am. :)
